The brain is one of the great mysteries of our species. As we study this incredible organ, more spaces of the unknown emerge. The mind and its functions open more profound questions about our reality the deeper we delve. Consciousness, memory, dreams, and neurogenesis all are spaces of emerging study and ongoing inquiry in the field of neuroscience. Alongside this growing field of study, neurodegenerative diseases are escalating in frequency and severity across the globe, with few clear answers as to their origin and their treatment. As human minds and consciousness continue to be impacted by environmental factors, social upheaval, and cultural shifts like the impacts of the use of artificial intelligence, the question of how to support the health and healing of the mind become increasingly significant.

We believe that the increase in neurodegenerative diseases is connected to the degeneration of the mind-body of the Earth—and that treatment of these diseases requires collaboration with medicines and perspectives of the planet in mind. We take seriously that the planet is alive and that we are a part of this global ecosystem, and that trends that are present in our species are relevant and interconnected to larger trends outside of our species as well. Using this kind of ecosystem thinking, (a model of thought and study that prioritizes looking at connections and trends across interdisciplinary perspectives, aspiring to get a picture of a diverse whole) we are connecting the study of plant compounds in conjunction with fungal compounds to investigate what may support not only neuroprotective outcomes, but foster neurogenesis in brains effected by neurodegenerative diseases.

Much like the field of bioremediation in polluted or damaged areas of Earth’s body, we are curious about what compounds and practices align to create new neural connections in the brain after severe damage or disease. We strive toward bringing a deep sense of curiosity toward the brain, the body, and the many mysterious processes that impact our neurology.

We are currently focusing our study on a handful of particular plant and fungi compounds, and are developing research around some of the strategies for neurogenesis we have observed in connection with their use. We are connecting with researchers in varying sectors of neuroscience; specifically, those studying neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinsons, as well as with other experts in plant medicine, herbal science, and psilocybin research with the intention of fostering interdisciplinary roundtables of study around these diseases and to create potential treatment strategies. If you, or someone you know, is involved in these areas of research, or if you have questions, please reach out here. We are actively fostering these connections and are looking forward to being in conversation.
