Named for one of the Pacific Northwest’s rare and beautiful native orchids, the Fairy Slipper Land Project & Ecological Research Center is a project rooted around the creation of an interdisciplinary land-based research, innovation, and conservation hub here on the Olympic Peninsula.
We are establishing a 20-acre protected ecological landscape & regenerative agriculture base in Jefferson County, Washington that also serves as a community-centered agricultural innovation and research space. Our goal is to permanently steward the forested portion through conservation, habitat restoration, and collaborative ecological research while transforming the agricultural acreage into a living laboratory for regenerative and organic farming.
The perfect, symphonic, mysterious, and wild processes of place both inspire and inform the work of Fairy Slipper. We know and trust that the best teacher for human systems are the ecosystems around us, and seek to model our project as a diverse and seasonally shifting ecosystem of experts, elders, farmers, and feelers. With the Fairy Slipper Land Project & Ecological Research Center, we are creating a space to learn from the regional biosphere and be of service to supporting it’s health and wellbeing now and into the future, as well as conducting research with this ecosystem model in mind—centering collaboration alongside autonomy for a vast array of niches. This project will facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration & study between individuals and organizations in the region, as well as provide a hub for the surrounding community to connect with and learn from the land.
We are weaving a web of reciprocal relationships of dreamers, thinkers, and doers, with the intention to nourish the land and all those who work on this project. If you know of, or are involved in, any form of land-honoring/land-based research work, conservation, or healing, please reach out here. We are interested and excited to connect with anyone doing this work. To offer a tax-deductible donation, or to learn more about the details of the project, please email info@fairyslipper.org or contact us here for options. We are deeply grateful for any and all support.
